PNG stores images losslessly, which is ideal for screenshots and logos but produces files several times larger than necessary for photographs. Converting to JPG typically cuts the size by 70–90% with no visible difference on photographic content. The one thing to watch is transparency: JPG cannot store it, so any transparent background becomes solid.

Before you convert: JPG cannot store transparency. Any transparent area in your PNG file will be filled with a solid background colour — white by default. If you need the transparency preserved, convert to PNG or WebP instead.

About PNG files

PNG was created in 1996 as a patent-free replacement for GIF, and it became the standard for anything that needs a transparent background or pixel-perfect fidelity. Its compression is lossless, so a PNG is an exact reproduction of the original — no artefacts, no generational loss when re-saved. That precision is why it is the format of choice for logos, screenshots, icons, and UI assets.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs entirely inside your browser using your own device’s processor. Your PNG file is never transmitted, never stored, and never seen by us — you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it will still work.

Is there a file size or daily limit?

There is no daily limit and no account required. Because your device does the work rather than our server, we have no per-conversion cost to recover. The practical ceiling is your device's available memory — very large files on older phones may fail, in which case convert them in smaller batches.

Can I convert several PNG files at once?

Will I lose the transparent background?

Yes — JPG has no way to store transparency, so transparent pixels are filled with a solid colour. Convert to PNG or WebP if the transparent background matters.

Will the quality drop?
