Converting an iPhone HEIC photo to PNG gives you a lossless, universally readable file. PNG will be considerably larger than the HEIC original — often several times so, since PNG does not compress photographs efficiently — but nothing is discarded in the conversion. If file size matters more than perfect fidelity, JPG is the better target.

About HEIC files

HEIC has been the default photo format on iPhone since iOS 11 in 2017, and it stores roughly the same image quality as JPG in about half the space. That efficiency comes at the cost of compatibility: Windows needs a paid codec extension from the Microsoft Store, most Android devices cannot open it, and a great many websites reject it on upload. This single compatibility gap is why HEIC to JPG is one of the most-searched conversions on the web.

Are my files uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion runs entirely inside your browser using your own device’s processor. Your HEIC file is never transmitted, never stored, and never seen by us — you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it will still work.

Is there a file size or daily limit?

There is no daily limit and no account required. Because your device does the work rather than our server, we have no per-conversion cost to recover. The practical ceiling is your device's available memory — very large files on older phones may fail, in which case convert them in smaller batches.

Can I convert several HEIC files at once?

Why will Windows not open my HEIC files?
