About BMP files
BMP is a Microsoft format that stores pixels essentially raw, with little or no compression. The result is perfect fidelity and files that are frequently ten to fifty times larger than an equivalent JPG — a modest photograph can easily exceed 20 MB. It persists mainly in legacy Windows software, scanning utilities, and industrial equipment that never moved on.

Why convert to WebP?

Are my files uploaded to a server?
No. The conversion runs entirely inside your browser using your own device’s processor. Your BMP file is never transmitted, never stored, and never seen by us — you can disconnect from the internet after the page loads and it will still work.
Is there a file size or daily limit?
There is no daily limit and no account required. Because your device does the work rather than our server, we have no per-conversion cost to recover. The practical ceiling is your device's available memory — very large files on older phones may fail, in which case convert them in smaller batches.
